Why do i love Nanjing? Let me count the ways.

I love the smells. Yes every one of them, from the fruit stalls to the stinky tofu. somedays it's like an olfactory circus and everybody has a free pass. my nose shall never be bored with street food, "real" fragrances from fashion lady and the occasional unkept beggar.

I love the people. Yes every one of them, from the emo that tries so hard to look depressed with their "hello kitty" bag to the elderly woman that goes through my shopping trolley to see what i am about to purchase. Even the older business men who insists on giving you another glass/bowl of baijiu when they know full well that you have already had a bit too much.

I love the public transportation. Yes all of them, from the sardine-like buses to the grumpy drivers. The taxi drivers that try to sing along to my drunken blubberings are my favorite. And i guess nothing much can compare to trying to get into or off the bus, or the last seat for that matter.

in short, i love Nanjing. with its never ending supply of arriving and leaving foreigners. With its "traditional" china that you can buy at fu zi miao or the latest "authentic" overseas fashion from deji plaza. Every day is a mission of some sorts. who would have thought that trying to find a bath plug would be a 3 month adventure? Nanjing will never be boring. Viva Nanjing!
